Women Build invites women to devote at least one day on the build site at our Women Build 2020 home to help build decent and affordable housing in our community. Women have the strength and determination necessary to build Habitat houses, addressing the problem of accessible housing in a concrete way so that families can achieve stability and independence.

Now more than ever, we are relying on community, we are striving for connection, we are craving togetherness - we need home. This year, particularly, has presented some of the deepest challenges our organization, our Habitat homeowners and our future Habitat homebuyers have ever encountered. We have faced more challenges in how we operate and have found alternative ways to continue serving our community, working apart while continuing to work together.

Each year, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity typically hosts our annual fundraiser—Women Build— that engages our community to raise funds & walls. Our Women Build 2019 event raised over $25,000. Due to the change of the fundraising dynamic of our world today, our goal for Women Build 2020 is $15,000.

You can help us reach our goal by joining other fundraisers and teams in our virtual Women Build 2020 event. By creating a fundraising page, setting your goal and sharing that page with your friends and family via social media, you will be helping us continue to move our mission forward-building homes, communities and hope. Your friends and family can help contribute as well as help share your message throughout the community. Our fundraising goal for 2020 is $15,000, and our fundraising time period is about the same time period it takes our team and volunteers to build a Habitat home, 3 months. This virtual event is open from June 1-August 31, 2020. Each individual who raises $50 or more will receive an exclusive Women Build 2020 t-shirt.

At this moment, we cannot build a home in the way we traditionally do. So, we're changing the rules. We're asking you to #StayHome and join our community by creatively building something in your own home or office with materials you already have on hand, or stop in the ReStore to pick up materials (and possibly keep your kids busy for a few hours). Or you can share a completed project that you may have done around your house.

Rather than framing walls and hanging drywall on our sites, we'd like you to join us in building hope at home with imaginative, creative building projects. And we're asking you to share your work with us - we want our community to become your community.

As we continue to #StayHome whenever possible, Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity would still like to remind you that safety is still our biggest priority. Not only does that mean following protocols and social distancing, but also please remember to stay safe while using tools or craft-making while at home.

Let’s come together and show the community what it means to build homes, community and hope. We may be operating in a different way, through our virtual resources, but let’s show the world that we will persevere. Find us on social media and tag us in your project picture and we’ll share it through our network! Visit Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity on Facebook and Instagram to share your success, and help us spread the word to the world to achieve our goal.

In Support of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity

Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
